"Lost for Words: The Moment I Met Her"
There is nothing quite like the feeling of returning home after a long time away. The familiar smells, sights, and sounds all come flooding back, evoking a sense of comfort and joy that is hard to put into words.
For me, returning home after being away from home always fills me with a sense of happiness and contentment. I was returning home first time after getting admission in Ramjas College, University of Delhi. Ist Semester exams are overed. On one hand, there is a sense of relief that the exam is finally over, and now i can relax and take a break. On the other hand, there may be anxiety and worry about how you did on the exam and what the future holds.
After coming from examination hall, I packed my baggage. I completed my packaging within an hour. I took two books The Mahabharata and The Poetics by Aristotle in my bag for this 21 hours journey.
Next day, I left for Anand Vihar Terminal at 3 p.m. and my train was at 5.20 P.m. I left 2 hours earlier because i dont want to take any risk. At 5.20 p.m announcement was made " May I have your attention please,Train no. 12435 from Anand Vihar via kanpur, Aligarh and Patna to Darbhanga Junction Garib Rath express is about to depart from platform number 06, Thank you". And then train departed. I went to my berth and took a nap.
It was 7.00 p.m. when I finally thought of waking up, and I saw this beautiful damsel sitting right across my berth. I was pretty sure she was not there when I boarded the train. I pretended to behave as if I haven't noticed anything. I sat up, and went back to the virtual world of social media. I don't have much real friends in the real world(some 2–3) and I do crave for love(for some weird reason), so I spend a lot of time in the virtual world.
She got up, and went somewhere, by the time she came back some one else had sat at her place, so it was natural for her to sit right next to me on my berth. And right Infront of us was a mirror, somewhat like this;
She: I boarded at Allahabad, where did you board?
Me: I boarded at Anand Vihar, but I didn't see you.
She: I tend to sleep with the blanket over my face, I was on the middle berth.
Me: Ahh! So you are from Allahabad?
She: No, I am from Bhagalpur. But I don't get a direct train to Bhagalpur, so have to take one to Patna and then by road .
Me: So parents staying at Allahabad.
She: No, I live alone here.
Me: Why? Alone
She: I am in college.
Me: Which one?
She: Allahabad University
Me: What are you pursuing here?
She: B.a LL.b
Me: Wow! Mine Dream course
She: Asked by laughing, why did not you join me?
Me: told i have also prepared for clat but did not join NLU.
She: What did you mean?
Me: told i have cracked clat examination and got CNLU Patna but i left it.
She: asked in shock, why?
Me: told in grief cant we talk on this matter later? (This question always hurt me)
She: So, what are you doing now?
Me: I am pursuing English honours from Ramjas college.
She: What? Are you in North campus?
Me: Yes,
She: I have listened too much about North Campus. Many of my friends are in University of Delhi. They told me about college campus and their competition?
Me: oooo
She: So, where are you going?
Me: I am going to my home. Madhubani
Rest of the train journey till the next day we binge-talked about movies we had watched and any random topics that crossed our mind. She talked and I was the one listening to her voice and being swept over every time she paused to take a breath.
Train reached Patna the next day and as Indians do, we were all lined up at the aisle to de-board the train. She was standing right next to me and I was with gathering courage from the Universe to ask for her Instagram Id. Finally I climbed another 10 floors and asked her Instagram Id. She gave me her Id and I went with her till the train gate. And said Bye to her.
About 2 hours later, I dropped her a text asking if she had reached. Not getting a response, I consoled myself and kept calm. Two days later , I texted her once again consoling myself.
Texted her once again and an hour later i got a reply. Sorry, i couldn't see your message as i have returned home after a long time. So i am spending time with my family. She texted her number and told me that i am not so much online on Instagram. so you can text me on whatsapp.
I was happy to get her number.
Me: What are you upto?
She: Was just having a chat with my friends and getting ready for dinner to be served at 8:30.
Me: What do you have generally for dinner?
And the discussion continued for another 10 minutes after which i thought I should leave . Before leaving , she thanked me for texting and asked for my name so that she can save my number.
After 2 days, she texted me. What's up? What are you doing?
Me: Reading Mahabharata. I was too much fascinated by the characters of Mahabharata.
She: Such a holy person you are!
Me: You should also read once.
She: Naah! I had already soo much text to read.
Then,we chatted for an hour.
Phone calls became a daily affair and soon we become good friends. We enjoyed each others company to the maximum and I was overjoyed because I found the friendship I had been longing for.
